ROUTES OF ENTRY
EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
EYES: Liquid is minimally irritating to the eyes. High vapor concentration may also be irritating.
SKIN: Contact with liquid is mildly irritating. Prolonged or repeated contact can result in defatting and drying of the skin, resulting in dermatitis.
INHALATION: Vapors may be irritating to the nose, throat, and respiratory tract. High vapor concentrations may cause CNS depression.
INGESTION: Liquid is moderately toxic and can be harmful if swallowed.
May produce CNS depression, may result in vomiting. Aspiration of vomitus must be avoided as even small quantities may result in Aspiration Pneumonitis. Early to moderate CNS depression may be evidenced by giddiness, headache, dizziness, and nausea.
EXTREME CASES: Unconsciousness and death may occur. Aspiration Pneumonitis may be evidenced by coughing, labored breathing and cyanosis (bluish skin), in severe cases death may occur. Pre-existing eye, skin, and respiratory conditions may be aggravated by exposure to this product. Near fatal exposures may result in congestive effects to a wide variety of organs. Lab animals exposed by various routes to high doses showed evidence in the liver, kidneys, lungs, spleen, heart, and adrenal. Rats exposed to vapor during pregnancy showed embryo/fetotoxic effects. Mice exposed orally to doses producing maternal toxicity also showed embryo/fetotoxic effects.
CARCINOGENICITY: This product is not listed by the National Toxicology Program, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, or the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES
EYE CONTACT: Flush with water for 15 minutes while holding eyelids open. Get medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT: Wash with soap and water, remove contaminated clothing, do not use until cleaned. If persistent irritation occurs, get medical attention.
INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing is difficult. Give artificial respiration if not breathing.
INGESTION: GET MEDICAL ATTENTION. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. If vomiting occurs spontaneously, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration of liquid into lungs.
NOTE TO THE PHYSICIAN: If more than 2ml/kg has been ingested and vomiting has not occurred, emesis should be induced with supervision. Keep victim's head below hips to prevent aspiration. If symptoms such as loss of gag reflex, convulsions, or unconsciousness occur before emesis, gastric lavage using a cuffed endotracheal tube should be considered.
